To Be Wounded… is a black-and-white photographic study examining the visual and psychological dimensions of human trauma.

The series juxtaposes two types of portraits: close-up images of scars and rear-facing headshots.

Beneath each scar photograph is a brief factual account of the injury’s origin, grounding the image in physical experience.
Beneath each headshot is a short text describing a form of emotional or mental anguish, introducing an unseen layer of pain.

By pairing physical and psychological wounds, the project explores parallels between visible and invisible suffering.

The choice to obscure faces emphasizes anonymity and universality, encouraging reflection rather than voyeurism.

Through its minimal aesthetic and structured contrasts, To Be Wounded… invites viewers to consider how the body records both harm and healing.
