BOOKS

Photobooks bring together two of my passions—narrative and imagery. Some stories require the written word, while others speak more clearly through photographs alone. Each project finds its own balance between text and image, sometimes leaning heavily on one, sometimes utilizing both in equal parts. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a book of them becomes its own language.

Waiting Out the Cows and To Be Wounded… were both created in 2016—a time I now recognize as the beginning of a growing political and cultural divide. These works explore the early stages of that separation: a study of conflicting positions of self within a shifting landscape, and an examination of what harm can mean within that context.

Circle of Alleviation, Rendering Marks, and 99ON99 also began around 2016 but continued to evolve over the next nine years. Their development reflects not only changes in the world but also the ways my own perspective and sense of place transformed alongside it.
